📘 Preposition কাকে বলে?
ইংরেজি Grammar-এ কোনো Noun বা Pronoun-এর সঙ্গে বাক্যের অন্য কোনো শব্দের সম্পর্ক বোঝাতে যে Word ব্যবহার করা হয়, তাকে Preposition বলে।
সহজভাবে বললে, Preposition আমাদের জানায়—কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু কোথায়, কখন, কোন দিকে, কার সঙ্গে, কার জন্য বা কীভাবে সম্পর্কিত।
যেমন:
The book is on the table.
Rahim is in the room.
We go to school.
The cat is under the chair.
I came with my friend.
এখানে on, in, to, under, with হলো Preposition।

📖 Preposition-এর সহজ সংজ্ঞা
A Preposition is a word that shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word in a sentence.
উদাহরণ:
The pen is on the table.
এখানে on শব্দটি “pen” এবং “table”-এর মধ্যে অবস্থানের সম্পর্ক বোঝাচ্ছে।
তাই on হলো Preposition।

ব্যবহারের ধরন অনুযায়ী Preposition বিভিন্ন ধরনের হতে পারে। শেখার সুবিধার জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কয়েকটি ধরন নিচে দেওয়া হলো।

📍 ১. Preposition of Place
কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু কোথায় অবস্থান করছে তা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত Preposition-কে Preposition of Place বলা হয়।
গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শব্দ:
in, on, at, under, over, beside, behind, between, among, near
উদাহরণ:
The books are on the table.
Rahim is in the room.
The cat is under the chair.
The school is near my house.
The boy is standing behind the door.

⏰ ২. Preposition of Time
কোনো কাজ কখন ঘটেছে বা ঘটবে তা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত Preposition-কে Preposition of Time বলা হয়।
এক্ষেত্রে at, on, in খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
At
নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে সাধারণত at ব্যবহার হয়।
at 5 o'clock
at noon
at night
উদাহরণ:
The class starts at 10 o'clock.
On
নির্দিষ্ট দিন বা তারিখের ক্ষেত্রে on ব্যবহার হয়।
on Monday
on Friday
on 5 September
on my birthday

We will meet on Friday.
In
মাস, বছর, ঋতু বা দিনের কোনো দীর্ঘ সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে in ব্যবহার হয়।

➡️ ৩. Preposition of Direction বা Movement
কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু কোনো দিকে যাচ্ছে বা চলাচল করছে—এটি বোঝাতে এসব Preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়।
গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শব্দ:
to, into, from, towards, through, across
উদাহরণ:
I go to school.
He came from Dhaka.
The boy went into the room.
She walked across the road.
They are moving towards the village.
💡 to সাধারণত কোনো গন্তব্যের দিকে যাওয়া বোঝায়।
I went to school.
আর from কোনো স্থান থেকে আসা বা শুরু হওয়া বোঝায়।
He came from school.

👤 ৪. Preposition of Agent
কোনো কাজ কে করেছে বা কার দ্বারা হয়েছে তা বোঝাতে by ব্যবহার করা হয়।
বিশেষ করে Passive Voice-এ এটি বেশি দেখা যায়।
উদাহরণ:
The poem was written by Rabindranath Tagore.
The work was done by Karim.
The letter was written by Rina.
এখানে by কাজটি কার দ্বারা সম্পন্ন হয়েছে তা বোঝাচ্ছে।

কোনো কাজ কোনো যন্ত্র বা উপকরণের মাধ্যমে করা হয়েছে—এটি বোঝাতে কিছু ক্ষেত্রে with ব্যবহার করা হয়।
উদাহরণ:
He cut the apple with a knife.
She wrote the letter with a pen.
The boy opened the box with a key.
এখানে with কী দিয়ে কাজটি করা হয়েছে তা বোঝাচ্ছে।

কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বিষয়ের সঙ্গে অন্য কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বিষয়ের সম্পর্ক বা সংযোগ বোঝাতেও Preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়।
যেমন:
This book belongs to me.
I am talking with my friend.
He is interested in music.
She is good at English.

In, On, At নিয়ে অনেক সময় ভুল হয়। তাই এগুলো আলাদাভাবে মনে রাখো।

কোনো বড় স্থান, শহর, দেশ বা কোনো স্থানের ভেতরে অবস্থান বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

কোনো পৃষ্ঠের ওপর অবস্থান বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

কোনো নির্দিষ্ট স্থান বা পয়েন্ট বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

🔄 In এবং Into-এর পার্থক্য
In সাধারণত অবস্থান বোঝায়।
The boy is in the room.
অর্থাৎ ছেলেটি ঘরের ভেতরে আছে।
Into কোনো স্থানের ভেতরে প্রবেশের movement বোঝায়।
The boy went into the room.
অর্থাৎ ছেলেটি ঘরের ভেতরে প্রবেশ করল।

↔️ Between এবং Among-এর ব্যবহার
Between
সাধারণত দুই ব্যক্তি বা দুইটি বিষয়ের মধ্যে সম্পর্ক বোঝাতে between ব্যবহার করা হয়।
The ball is between Rahim and Karim.
Among
তিন বা ততোধিক ব্যক্তি বা বিষয়ের মধ্যে বোঝাতে সাধারণত among ব্যবহার করা হয়।
The teacher distributed the books among the students.

Across
কোনো কিছুর এক পাশ থেকে অন্য পাশে যাওয়া বোঝায়।

Through
কোনো কিছুর ভেতর দিয়ে যাওয়া বোঝায়।
The train passed through the tunnel.

This gift is for you.
Of
সম্পর্ক, মালিকানা বা কোনো কিছুর অংশ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
The color of the sky is blue.
With
কার সঙ্গে বা কী দিয়ে বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
I went with my brother.

কোনো বিষয় সম্পর্কে বোঝায়।

⭐ Preposition Noun বা Pronoun-এর সঙ্গে বাক্যের অন্য শব্দের সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে।
⭐ at → নির্দিষ্ট সময় বা স্থান।
⭐ on → দিন, তারিখ বা কোনো পৃষ্ঠের ওপর।

🌟 Preposition মনে রাখার সহজ কৌশল
একটি ছোট বাক্য মনে রাখো:
“In the room, on the table, at school, to school, from school.”
এখানে পাঁচটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যবহার একসঙ্গে দেখা যায়:
in the room → ঘরের ভেতরে
on the table → টেবিলের ওপর
at school → স্কুলে
to school → স্কুলের দিকে/স্কুলে যাওয়া
from school → স্কুল থেকে
নিয়মগুলো শুধু মুখস্থ না করে বাক্যে ব্যবহার করার চেষ্টা করো। তাহলে Preposition শেখা অনেক সহজ হবে।
